Lunches in Livery Halls

There are several halls which offer regular weekly or monthly lunches for liverymen or freemen and their guests, of any company. They need to be booked in advance, and details of some are below:

Little Ship Club & City Livery Club, every Friday, book on 020 7248 2800 or online

Ironmongers' Hall, every Monday Book here

Watermen's Hall, mid Friday each month from The Cook & The Butler - Date Details here

Butchers' Hall,  telephone 020 7248 1163 or  e-mail Sarah Levy Date Details here

How to remember the dates of the Quarter Days:

Assuming one knows they fall in March, June, September and December, then a way of getting the exact day is to count the number of letters in each month.

So Lady Day in March – five letters in March, so 25th

Similarly Midsummer Day in June – four letters in June, so 24th (election of Sheriffs)

And Michaelmas in September – nine letters in that month, so 29th (election of Lord Mayor)

However it doesn’t work in December, but we all know when Christmas Day is!http://www.liverycommitteecourses.org/wardens-city-course.php
