Briefings & Courses

One of the most important roles of the Livery Committee is to organise City Briefings for all liverymen and freemen, and other courses for wardens, future masters, and their clerks.

The four City Briefings arranged each year are held in the early evening at Guildhall. The Wardens and Court Assistants City Course (primarily intended for those who expect to become master/prime warden within the next year or so), is held in September. A half day After Dinner Speaking course intended for a similar audience is arranged each February (but see red note below). And a Briefing for Clerks is held annually in January. Spouses and partners are welcome at each of these events.

After Livery Dinner Speaking Course (Wednesday 10 February 2021 CANCELLED)

As noted above, in these uncertain times the course planned for February 2021 has been cancelled. Presently, I (Nigel Pullman) have no plans to restart the course.

But as an alternative to the course, my fellow leader, Venetia Howes  is able to offer either bespoke one to one instruction on the subject (on a commercial basis, and including help with writing a speech).

Or a more general summary of the course material, again on a one to one basis. This would be independent of Guildhall (at a mutually convenient venue), but the fee would be the same or similar to that for the course (ie c£100).
